This design-build project provided a new facility that provides a safe and secure child development center for dependents of active duty personnel stationed at MCBH Kaneohe, Hawaii. The 18,000-square-foot building shall provide rooms and spaces for the care of up to 122 children from the ages of 6 weeks to 5 years. Key elements of the facility included ten activity rooms, a full kitchen, a laundry room, toilet facilities, storage, and administrative spaces. Other amenities included four exterior playground and water play areas specifically geared for individual age groups including infants, pre-toddlers, toddlers, and preschoolers. The project was constructed with sustainable practices and attained a LEED Silver rating by the US Green Building Council.
