Nan, Inc. Awarded Contract to Build Much-Needed Veterans Home in West Oahu

Nan, Inc., Hawaii’s largest locally-owned construction company, has just been awarded a $75.5 million contract to construct the new Hawaii State Veterans Home, Oahu. The 120-bed facility in Kapolei, Oahu, Hawaii will help meet the growing demand for housing and care for Hawaii’s veterans.

Over the course of two years, Nan, Inc. will be constructing three buildings at the site, including a pair of two-story residential buildings and a two-story skilled nursing facility/community building. The work also includes interior finishes, a paved on-site parking lot and other sitework improvements. The project site is a vacant seven-acre parcel located across Farrington Highway from the Kapolei Walmart.

“Our U.S. veterans have sacrificed a great deal for our country. We at Nan, Inc. will pour our heart and soul into building a welcoming place for them to live out their golden years.” said Nan, Inc. President Fooney Freestone. “In addition, this contract award will provide dozens of our local tradesmen and women with steady work during this economic downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.”

This project adds to the growing list of major Nan, Inc. projects in West Oahu, which include three nearly-completed West Oahu rail stations for the Honolulu Rail Project, the recently opened Honouliuli Middle School, the Malakole Industrial Center in Campbell Industrial Park, and the massive expansion of the Honouliuli Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Construction on the Hawaii State Veterans Home, Oahu is slated to begin before the end of 2020 and is expected to take about 24 months to complete.
