Nan, Inc. is proud to continue its long-standing commitment to community investment with a $1 million donation to YMCA Honolulu to support the reconstruction and renovation of the Nu’uanu YMCA main gym., the organization’s largest athletic facility. This new gym will be named in honor of Don Anderson, former President and CEO of YMCA Honolulu, who’s decades of service have transformed countless communities in Hawai’i and across the Asia-Pacific region.
Don Anderson and Nan Shin share more than 20 years of partnership, beginning with a YMCA project in Leyte, Philippines. Together they have worked hand-in-hand to uplift communities in Hawai’i, Cambodia, the Philippines and Myanmar by building schools, shelters, health centers, classrooms, and safe spaces for families. With the support of employees from both the YMCA and Nan, Inc., these efforts have provided hope and stability to communities in need.
Nan, Inc.’s contribution honors Don Anderson’s remarkable legacy of humanitarian work, fundraising, and leadership, while supporting the future of YMCA Honolulu. When complete, the new Nu’uanu YMCA gym will serve as an essential resource for local families and the next generation – a place for health, growth, and community connection. We are honored to help carry forward Don’s vision of service and to support an organization that has made a profound impact across Hawai’i and beyond.
