FY03 P-309 Bravo 2 Pier Waterfront Facility & Mechanical Shop Consolidation, Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard (PHNSY) & Intermediate Maintenance Facility (IMF), Pearl Harbor, Oahu, HI

  • Client: Department of the Navy
  • Contract Amount: $18,550,000

This high profile design-build project involved all design and construction necessary to consolidate various mechanical shops (Shop 06, Shop 31, Shop 31N, and Shop 38), including Controlled Nuclear Information Area(s) (CNIA), with the Waterfront Project Management Team in historical Buildings 67, 67A, 67B, and 67C located at Bravo 2 Pier. The project scope included complete renovation of the interior spaces to meet current codes and regulations, including structural repairs due to termite damage and extensive hazardous material abatement due to the old building construction and previous industrial activities. This included the removal of stored contaminated water containing cyanide, lead, chromium, and other hazardous contaminates. Key features of the project included new office spaces, training rooms, 30,000 square feet of CNIA secured space (similar to SCIF), and the conversion of an electroplating shop and wastewater treatment plant into new industrial shop space for the new users.

The success of this project resulted in a Letter of Appreciation from the Shipyard Project Manager.
