This high profile project involved the renovation of the
existing facility building at Fort DeRussy, and now serves
as the new Asia Pacific Center for Security Studies for the
Government. The scope of work included: site work; hazardous
abatement; improvements to the water lines, sanitary-sewer
system, pavement, concrete sidewalks, curbs and gutters; roofing;
wood work; structural steel; installation of new air conditioning
system (new chiller unit, new air-handling units; seismic
upgrades to meet current building codes; installation of state-of-the-art
communication lines; mechanical work; electrical work; testing,
final connections; cleanup, and all incidental items required
to complete the project.
The work also included all landscaping (turf establishment,
underground sprinkler system, moss rock seating and walls,
main pathway, concrete curbing, signage, lighting, plantings,
grading, testing, final connections). Furthermore, the renovation
involved: renovation of the theater auditorium with stained
wood wainscoting; installation of high polished granite floors;
landscaping of the old Ala Moana Boulevard & Kalakaua
Avenue, which included construction of a rock salt finish
sidewalk; demolition of the existing 2nd floor slab to create
a vaulted ceiling for the building’s interior entrance;
and the conversion of one of the existing buildings into a
library.
The success of this project resulted in a certificate of
appreciation along with a letter from the Chief of Engineering
and Construction recognizing Nan, Inc.’s outstanding
performance
