FY97 FH PROJECT HC/R 6-94, Wholehouse Revitalization at the Navy Region Hawaii, Hospital Point, Pearl Harbor, Oahu, Hawaii

Location: Pear Harbor, Oahu, Hawaii

This project included the revitalization of 19 historic dwelling units, which are listed on both the National and Hawaii Register of Historic Places. The wholehouse revitalization included selective removal work, removal and disposal of lead-based paint and asbestos containing materials, doors and windows replacement, miscellaneous carpentry work, asphalt roof shingles, architectural finishes, toilet and bath accessories, kitchen and vanity cabinets, electrical appliances, plumbing, air conditioning, and electrical work. Exterior work included utility connections.

The project also included protecting and preserving all historic elements of the buildings. All new exterior architectural features were matched to the existing building architectural features. Refurbished items included doors and door hardware, windows and window hardware, bathroom accessories (i.e., mirrors, medicine cabinets, and marble shower stall), signs, guardrails/handrails, mouldings, trims, and wall/ceiling finish material.
